Dave Burton

Friday Night 5pm till late.

My first ever gig was in 1973 at the school youth wing Saturday night disco aged 15, which lit the fuse to my curiosity into playing records in public.

The heatwave of 1976 found me working in an amusement arcade on Southsea seafront and I was soon being misled into the nightclub world in need of liquid refreshments after work. The club, next to the arcade, was called Joannas and I soon started doing the warm up sessions for the regular DJ's which led to me becoming one of the DJ's there in 1979 and soon after became the  resident DJ.

I had to play a mixed bag of music to cater for all tastes but the soul and funk style soon took my focus and the weekly trip to the record shop always ended up with a bag of import 12" singles.
